University of the South

University of the South, originally uploaded by blueathena7.

I worked today at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. One, the campus is absolutely beautiful and reminds me of my visit to England back in 2001. Two, the library and archives staff were friendly and welcoming. I worked all morning in the archives stored on the third floor. It was not easy to maneuver around the stacks, but everything was nonetheless accessible. Tomorrow I work in the archives building next door to the library. That afternoon I will receive a call and discuss some questions. I do hope that goes well. I am not entirely looking forward to the three hour drive to Jefferson City on Thursday but I will get there just fine. I intend to take some more pictures in Sewanee tomorrow before leaving with hopes that it will be a sunny day. Today's photos are mostly overcast and gray as it threatened to rain all afternoon.

Virginia Tech Shooting

Virginia Tech Shooting Leaves 33 Dead
By CHRISTINE HAUSER and ANAHAD O’CONNOR
Published: April 16, 2007
At least 33 people were killed on the campus of Virginia Tech today in what appears to be the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history. Many of the victims were students.

"The shooting at Virginia Tech comes in the same week, eight years ago, as the April 20 shooting at Columbine." - New York Times

The Story Of Timbuck

One of my video-blogging friends wrote a story and put it to video. I really like his presentation of this, and how it is at the same time sad but hopeful. Enjoy.

Women and the Media

I just remembered I haven't linked to this video here. I like -- and agree with -- this woman's lecture about the media. It is short, so take a few minutes to watch and listen. Thanks.
